“What is solarpunk for?” this great question is asked by the brilliantly talented Ukrainian artist The Lemonaut. Like us, they argue our movement’s greatest potential is not just as art but as way to inspire people to act to make solarpunk a reality.
In this beautifully illustrated slideshow they argue more ‘realistic’ solarpunk is better for achieving this goal, what we call Rooted Solar.
Another area we have in common with The Lemonaut is we agree we don’t need to wait for future technology to create a deliciously sustainable world. As Buckminster Fuller said decades ago we have all the technology we need right now. What we need is the cultural and societal changes to use that existing technology to make a solarpunk world a reality.
You can check out The Lemonaut’s work through their Tumblr here and buy them a coffee (or in their case lemons) here.
