Root solarpunk to help it grow
Why less fantastical shades of our genre have greater power to inspire
I recently gave a 6 minute talk for ETH Prague “To create a deliciously sustainable future we should champion more rooted solarpunk”. To watch it click here or below.
Do you agree with the arguments I made? Do you think that more rooted shades of solarpunk have greater capacity to mobilise people to make them a reality than the more fantastical ones?
There were a number of other solarpunk themed talks at ETH Prague. One we especially liked was by Dustin Jacobus, “An artistic view of the future: A Solarpunk future”.
He talks through illustrated visions of how places in Europe might evolve over time in a solarpunk style. They feature lots of urban rewilding and augmenting to make cities more deliciously sustainable.

The depictions of his near futures especially resonate with our more rooted shade of solarpunk.

That's all for this update. If you like what we’re trying to do here and know someone else who might do too then please share.

I'm trying to follow the "solarpunk" theme, but almost everything seems to be on video and I don't watch videos if possible. Any chance of some written articles or at least transcripts?
