Solarpunk street art
A solarpunk mural in an unusual spot, plus nine protopian videos and articles as part of our regular round-up of solarpunky stuff
Imagine walking along the road and seeing an artwork portraying your community in a solarpunk future on a piece of public infrastructure. Well the lucky residents of Boise, Idaho don’t need to imagine! They can see just such a piece of art thanks to our solarpunk sister Same Henze. We interviewed Sam before about her comic ‘Bounty Hunter Solarfunk’ which you can read here.
She has created ‘Solarpunk Boise’, a mural covering a traffic box at 12th St & W Main St, SE Corner. In Sam’s own words;
“Solarpunk portrays vibrant, optimistic spaces where communities work together and use renewable technologies to thrive. Solarpunk Boise imagines what our city could look like. Flora has been added to buildings and green energy tech is shown in the background and a community garden is in focus for the foreground. Through this project, I invite Boiseans to join me in envisioning a future that honors both our people and the environment.”
You can see an Instagram video here where Sam talks more about why she made this piece and what it means to her. To find out more about Sam herself check out her Instagram and website.

Part of building a deliciously sustainable future means sustaining ourselves too. I'll be taking the next couple of weeks largely away from screens, so replies and comments may be slower than usual. I aim to read and respond on the other side :)
