Solarpunking NYC Harbour
As well as retrofuturism, tenant takeovers and more in our latest solarpunky roundup
Can oysters clean New York’s waterways?
Could The Big Apple come to be known as The Big Oyster? An inspiring PBS documentary looks at how The Billion Oyster Project are trying to clean New York Harbour by using these bivalves natural filtering powers. The doc shows how the scheme involves a diverse range of people from the "Mothershuckers" oyster stall to high school student divers.
In what we consider to be one of the first solarpunk novels oysters are everywhere. In New York 2140 by Kim Stanley Robinson, city residents are eating them all the time.
